Börzsöny Night Run

Hungary's first night-time trail running race,
on the route of the Börzsöny Night Hike
Race info and rules
Date of the race: 25 September 2010, Saturday
Start: 20:00 o'clock
Place of start: Kemence, in front of the "Kőrózsa panzió"
Place of finish: Királyrét, tourist hostel
Race route: Kemence – Magosfa – Rakottyás-völgy – Csóványos – Spartacus kulcsosház – Csóványos – Hamuház – Nagy-Hideg-hegy – Királyrét
The organisers reserve the right to alter the route or to cancel the race in the event of emergency. In this case entry fees will be refunded, or - upon request - debited as the entry fee of another race of ours.
The entire route runs on the territory of the Duna-Ipoly National Park, on marked trails. Leaving these trails is prohibited. No intersection with road of high traffic. Supplementary markings help following the route where it is necessary.

Distance: 47,15 km
Total ascent: 2595 m
Limit time: 9 hours, in case of extreme wheather conditions 11 hours.
The closing time of the check-points is also the limit time for that point.
Obligatory equipment: head or hand lamp in working order, with spare batteries.
Recommended equipment: tourist map of the Börzsöny, hiking or ski poles, mobile phone.
Entry
The race is limited for 100 runners only.
Entry fee includes baggage transport and bus transfer of the participants from Királyrét to Kemence (the bus also calls at Kismaros and Szob railway stations).
Entry is only in advance, using the On-line registration menu on the terepfutas.hu web page, between 16 August and 13 September 2010. No entry at the start!

The contingent of 100 participants will be filled up in the order as payments are received. Should the limit be reached the further runners who payed will be put on the waiting list, and they can advance to the starters' list only in case of withdrawal of a confirmed runner. The entry fee already payed will be refunded within 3 working days after the race to those who remained on the waiting list.
Entry may be cancelled and entry fee may be transferred to another race of ours by 15 September 2010. Entry fee already payed can not be refunded in the case of cancellation.
A VAT receipt of the payed entry fee is issued at the finish upon request.
The race is open for anyone complying with the current race rules & conditions, and older than 18 at the day of the race.
Awards
Those finishing within the limit time will be awarded with a certificate and a finisher's T-shirt.
Race timing, check-points
The race is timed by the SportIdent chip system. There is a deposit of 6 000 Ft for the timing chip (SI-card), payable at the start, upon picking up the race bib. The deposit is refunded at the finish upon returning the SI-card. It is the ultimate responsibility of the participants to save and to return the SI-card. Runners may also user their personal SI-card.
Check-point are set up along the race route, that must be passed through in order. It is prohibited to leave the designated route.
The organisers reserve their right to check the passing of the participants even at unannounced check-points.
The race bib, that is handed out to every participant of the race, must be worn clearly visibly on the front of the runners' apparel. The race bib must not be modified or covered. Any runner taking off or covering his or her bib is considered as giving up the race and will not be ranked.
Refreshment
For refreshment we offer water, coke, fresh and dried fruits, bread, cheese, crackers and glucose to the runners. Isotonic drink is available at Spartacus kulcsosház. Since some of the refreshment stations are difficult to access and replenish, the organisers may limit the the refreshment allowance (especially water) if found necessary.
Shower, massage
Shower and free massage is avalable for the runners at the finish. Massage is available in the order of arrival.
Medical assistance, first aid
A competent first aid assistant is on duty during the entire event. Participants however are required to note that due to the features and properties of the terrain it may take significant time for the first aid assistant to get to an accident location. It is the ultimate obligation of every participant to take care of his or her and of the others personal safety, and to help their mates in emergency.
Responsibility
By entering the race the participants acknowledge that Börzsöny Night Run is run on difficult terrain, and succesful completion requires adequate physical and mental capacities as well as experience. The organiser may not be held responsible for any accident or damage attributable to any participant being unprepared, negligent or improvident.
Ethics of the race
Respect yourself and the other: do not cheat!
Respect the organisers and the volunteers: they expend their free time on you!
Respect the local citizens: they accomodate the race and the runners!
Respect the nature: do not litter and do not leave the designated trail!
Every participant is obliged to help those in emergency!

Disqualification
Any participant may be disqualified, who:
- does not wear a race bib, or covers or modifies it,
- misses a check-point,
- leaves the designated route of the race,
- uses any means of transportation,
- misses the limit time at any check-point or at the finish,
- uses drugs,
- does not help others in emergency,
- leaves litter, damages the natural or built environment,
- insults the organisers, the participants or the volunteers, verbally or physically.
Appeals
Appeals may be submitted in writing to the race organisers (László Csányi or Lászó Farkas), within 1 hour from finish. The fee for the appeal is 5 000 Ft.

The copyright of the photos and videos that may be taken of the race participants is the property of the race organisers, who may use these photos and videos freely.
